Camp Badger Arts 1 "Badger Bandits"
The theme for this camp was "Old Time Days". The campers heard stories of how it was in the late 1800's in Badger, and especially the exploits of Sontag and Evans, a pair of train robbers who hid out in Badger during that time. When it came time for them to think up the plot of the video this is the story they came up with, and they had a lot of fun making the video. Josh Voyles, Jeanie Silvey, Amber Mendoza were our counselors, helped by junior counselors Jett Jacobsen and Mallory Gilpin. Rita Watkins led the campers in making clay tiles and butterflies which she took to her studio where they will be fired and returned to the campers at the end of the summer.
Camp Badger Arts 2 "The Ring of Insanity"
The theme for this camp was "The Lord of the Rings". Most of the campers were very familiar with the story and the movie, and many came with props to help us make the video. The counselors at this camp were Josh Voyles, Jeanie Silvey and Amber Mendoza, with help from Mallory Gilpin. Gabriel Wagner and Stephen Pullom were junior counselors who helped enormously with the video especially the editing. Rita Watkins helped the campers to make clay horses, which she took to her studio where they will be fired and returned to the campers at the end of the summer.
Camp Badger Teen Adventure Camp
This camp was held at Sequoia Highlands off of Hwy 180 on McKenzie Ridge. We had many adventures, including getting to know a different place that had a great rec room and dining room, but older dorms and group bathrooms. The first day was tie-dye and making videos, and after that we had an adventure every day....Tuesday to Hume Lake, Wednesday to Road's End (the end of Hwy 180 deep into Kings Canyon), Thursday a big thunderstorm in camp and then to Tokopah Falls (from Lodgepole visitors center area) and Moro Rock. We capped off the week with a trip up nearby Delilah Fire Lookout and a bbq for the families. Counselors at this camp were Josh Voyles, Jeanie Silvey and Laurie Orsaba and our cook was again, Traci Carlton. Thanks to everyone!! This first "video" is a compilation of still pictures from a lot of us, plus some short videos at the end of campers jumping off rocks, etc. The last two videos were ones we made between adventures when we were back at the camp, "The Babysitter" and "The Boy at the Door".

Camp Badger Arts 1 "H23PO"
The theme for both of the Arts Camps in 2016 was Star Wars. In Arts Camp 1 the campers came up was about the people on one planet (all girls) enjoying abundant water until one day they are invaded by the people from another planet (all boys) who want to steal water for themselves. The counselors for this camp were Josh Voyles, Stephen Pullom, Jeanie Silvey and Hadley Cicerone. The junior counselors were Emily Encinas, and Gabriel Wagner. For both camps, Rita Watkins led the campers in making beautiful ceramic boxes with lids that had a butterfly emerging out of a cocoon.
Camp Badger Arts 2 "Happy Planet:
the Heemians Strike Back"
In Arts Camp 2 the campers came up with a Star Wars type story about Happy Planet that was invaded by the Heemians who wanted to destroy the sort of boring serenity. One great breakthrough in this video is that we used a drone with a camera attached so we could get aerial shots....and the video opens with one of these. The counselors for this week were Josh Voyles (thanks for bringing the drone!) and Karen Wagner. Karen Swan helped with a DIY badge program (another new thing!). Gabriel Wagner and Logan Lancaster helped with video taping & editing and Avery Wagner was our kitchen assistant.
Teen Adventure Camp
The Teen Adventure Camp takes place at Sequoia Highlands, north of Hwy 180 on a ridge that overlooks Dunlap School. We love this camp for the rec room & dining room, the rustic atmosphere, and big view of the valley, We go to the Parks three of the days of camp. We hiked to Weaver Lake, at 8000 feet (right at the timberline), to Hume Lake for the beach, the swimming and challenges on the infamous floating log, and to Tokopah Falls and Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park. At camp we tie-dyed shirts, played pool and pingpong, and had lots of time for hanging out together which is what these campers love the most. Counselors were Josh Voyles, Lorri Orsaba, Jeanie Silvey and Stephen Pullom. Kambria Eastham, Traci Carlton (our wonderful cook) and her daughter Shawnee helped with the driving. This "video" is a series of still photos.
2016 Camp Badger Videos
Camp Badger Arts 2 -
The theme for both of the Arts Camps in 2017 "Settlers of Badger". The morning activities at camp were planned around an adventure game. The premise was: "There used to be a thriving civilization in this area, but it vanished suddenly and we don't know why." Then we divided into 4 teams, Builders, Explorers, Healers and Artisans for our activities. The video stories that the campers came up with had to do with why would a civilization vanish. In this video the reason is.....Zombies!! Note: the campers come up with the script, costumes, props, make-up. This video was taped and edited by our head counselor, Josh Voyles.
