Mission and Programs
Program for the Arts Camps:
At the Arts Camps the campers stay with their counselors in rooms with bunks, 7 or 8 to a counselor. Our 2018 camp will start at 9 a.m. on Monday and end at 11 a.m. on Friday. Our activities include tie-dyeing, drawing and other visual arts as well as video production. We also have, of course, the swimming, hiking and evening campfires of the classic camp experience. In 2017 our camp had an all-camp to do adventure game in the mornings and other activities in the afternoon. We plan to do that again in 2018. It is exciting and works well with different age groups at the same camp.
The campers are assigned to a counselor in a "cabin" (2 rooms with a door between) according to their age. We do take friend requests when assigning the cabins. We are a small camp, with about 28 - 32 campers per session. This allows us to adjust the activities to the needs of the specific campers in the group.
Teen Adventure Camp
Program for the Teen Adventure Camp:
We are not having a week-long Teen Adventure Camp this year, but may have a weekend camp. This information is here to show the possibilities.
The Teen Camp has taken place at Sequoia Highlands, 5 miles off of Hwy 180, at a classic old youth camp (see info and pictures on the location page). This location has large old fashioned dorms with army cot bunkbeads, a huge rec room with pool and pingpong tables, darts, a piano, etc., and also an adjacent large kitchen and dining room. This camp is about 20 minutes from the entrance Kings Canyon and is large enough for us to expand as we have more campers. There is plenty of room for hiking and exploring at Sequoia Highlands. The rec room has plenty of activities for hanging out in the evening, including playing pool, ping-pong and darts, as well as having some treats at our own snack bar. Some nights we can also have a campfire.
